Dressed in his orange prison uniform, the former Senzo Meyiwa murder trial advocate is seen letting loose alongside another inmate as music plays in the background.
But while the dance moves may have entertained social media users, prison authorities were certainly not dancing to the same tune!
The Department of Correctional Services launched an urgent search operation at the facility following the circulation of the video.
And what officials uncovered was no small matter.
The search resulted in the confiscation of five cellphones, three routers, one laptop, two bank cards, 11 chargers, three USB devices, 16 packets of illicit cigarettes, five balls of dagga, 194 Mandrax tablets, two hacksaw blades, and various sharp objects.
Department of Correctional Services spokesman Singabakho Nxumalo said the department moved swiftly after the footage surfaced.

National Commissioner of Correctional Services Makgothi Samuel Thobakgale immediately instructed management to search the unit where the inmates identified in the video were accommodated.
Nxumalo said offenders found with contraband, as well as those identified in the video, would face internal disciplinary proceedings.
Their conduct would also be considered when assessing their profiles, with possible implications for their correctional placement and privileges.
“The Department will leave no stone unturned in establishing the full circumstances surrounding this incident,” said Nxumalo.
He said an investigation would establish how the electronic device used to record the video, together with other prohibited items, had been smuggled into the facility.
Any possible involvement or negligence by officials would also be investigated, with appropriate action taken where wrongdoing was established.
Thobakgale warned that correctional facilities were not places where offenders could disregard established rules and security protocols.
“Maintaining discipline across all correctional facilities remains cardinal.
“No individual, whether an offender or an official, will be allowed to undermine the integrity of the correctional system,” he said.
But how did Teffo trade the courtroom for prison walls?
The former advocate was arrested on 15 September 2026 at the Legal Practice Council’s Gauteng offices after police executed a warrant linked to a contempt of court matter.
He had reportedly gone to the offices seeking a certificate of good standing, despite having been struck off the roll of legal practitioners.
Teffo was struck off the roll in September 2022 following an application by the Legal Practice Council.
On 13 October 2023, the Gauteng High Court in Tshwane found him guilty of contempt of court for failing to comply with the order striking him off the roll.
He was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment, but the sentence was suspended in full on condition that he immediately complied with the order.
His September 2026 arrest followed the contempt matter after he allegedly continued insisting on obtaining the certificate of good standing.
Teffo previously represented four of the accused in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial before withdrawing from the case in July 2022.
He also made headlines on 31 August 2026 when he made a surprise appearance at the Joburg High Court during the attempted murder trial of Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala and his co-accused.
He attempted to address the court as a friend of the court but was ordered by Judge Cassim Moosa to provide proof that he had been readmitted to practice law.
He could not produce the required documentation.
Now, instead of making arguments in court, Teffo is making headlines for his dance moves behind prison walls.
